Texas Small and Rural Colleges: Fall Convening

The Center for Community College Student Engagement will host a special-focus convening for small and rural Texas colleges November 6, 2017, at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas, to review the work accomplished and lessons learned by members of the Texas Small and Rural Colleges Working Together Project.

Work on this project centers around the 15 colleges that administer Center surveys as the Texas Small Colleges Consortium.

    Overview

    Last fall semester, member colleges met in Austin to review the colleges' CCSSE data and identify a benchmark and survey item(s) to strengthen during the spring semester. In November, colleges will reconvene and share updates on progress with colleagues from the "learning community" established at the 2016 workshop.

     

    Logistics

    Generous funding from the Greater Texas Foundation will cover certain on-site expenses for each participant, including:

    • Workshop registration
    • Meeting materials
    • Meals (Breakfast and Lunch)

    The college is responsible for arranging and covering other travel expenses for participants.

     

    Registration

    Participating colleges are invited to send a team of up to five (minimum of three) people to the convening.

    The recommended composition for teams follows:

    • President or CEO
    • Chief academic officer
    • Chief student services officer
    • Lead institutional research officer
    • Faculty leader

    During registration, one person from each college team should be designated as the Team Facilitator. This person will serve as the primary point of contact between the college and Center staff.
